It's so much fun to observe Russians naively believing that nobody understand them in Finnish bar LOL

I like that with finnish/swedish people too, no matter wich language group I happen to be out with. Most finns I know doesn't understand swedish and vice versa(sp?) but I know both. :)
One should never start yelling stuff one doesn't want other people to understand, because in my experience there is always someone who understands your language. Can be shameful situations :D
Buorre beaivi! Mon lea Jarkko. That's all I know really know about (North) Sámi. Although when I listen to the Sámi news broadcast Oððasat I can pick up about 50% phrases as being equal to Finnish after regarding some 3000 years of sound changes. :)
@pirita: I guess you do :) Or then you could just talk really fast and use obscure words that don't have any correspondence with Finnish :)
Hups, moka. Miten saatoin jättää olla-verbin ensimmäisen persoonan muodosta "-n" -päätteen. Me idiot. Should have known better. Guess my head needs a checkup once more.
Speak really fast...that I picked up from my mom's 'tribe'. Dad's Enontekiö dialect in clumsier, slower and clearer, and easier for Finns to understand. So around you I'll switch to mom's Karasjok/Utsjoki dialect.
@constantine: well, to be honest, I do prefer more self-service thing - yesterday I was sat in bar corner and had my battery of empty glasses, happy that nobody bloody bother me with attention :)
Höpön pöpöä, Pirita! Finland is not poor by any means (ask OECD). It just does not have the kind of super-rich people that exist in medium to large countries with right-of-center libertarist capitalism. The Finnish wealth is simply fairly distributed.

@constantine well, they were merely chatting on "how strange this bar is, no real culture of service" etc :)

yea this whole Finnish do it yourself attitude does drive me insane sometimes.

We prefer selfservice because we cannot afford proper service, tips etc. Finland is a poor country (on average)
